Immunity, colostrum, and trace elements at the heart of exchanges between farmers and veterinarians.

Neonatal diarrhea remains one of the leading causes of calf mortality. Yet it can be reduced – and in some cases prevented – through better understanding of passive immunity transfer at birth.

During a recently organized information evening, Biokema partnered with a veterinary practice to engage with farmers on this crucial topic. The goal: to raise awareness about the importance of colostrum and the quality of antibody transfer during the calf’s first hours of life.

Discussions also highlighted the key role of the mother in preparing the calf’s immune defenses. Targeted supplementation at the end of gestation can improve colostrum quality and strengthen the immunity of the entire herd.

By supporting this kind of initiative, Biokema reaffirms its commitment to prevention and education in animal health. Because well-informed farmers are empowered to implement effective, practical solutions tailored to their realities.
